Overview
We demonstrated WAAM (wire-arc additive manufacturing), a new metal 3D printing technique that applies robotic arc welding technology. The demo pieces were designed as stools so that booth visitors could sit on and touch them. Through weld-based 3D printing experiments with both closed-surface solid forms and lattice/grid designs, we established the welding parameters and confirmed the potential of WAAM to fabricate a wide range of geometries.
